When COVID-19 emerged in 2020, DC Health turned to the cloud-based capabilities of Salesforce to combat the crisis. DC Health partnered with Accenture to quickly roll out a contact tracing solution — and Accenture leveraged the Copado DevOps Platform to automate implementation steps at the pace required to battle the spreading pandemic.

During the early days of the pandemic, public health organizations across the country scrambled to slow the spread of the deadly virus by digitizing health services such as contact tracing. DC Health’s in-house IT team needed external resources to quickly create a solution, so the organization turned to Accenture for assistance.
Accenture’s consultants and DC Health’s in-house team planned, built and delivered a contact tracing solution for the District in just over two weeks. And Copado played a key role in the rollout by migrating large volumes of metadata.
Originally, Copado was only set up for one organization within DC Health. But Accenture quickly expanded the platform to deploy 3,000+ user stories into production across the board.
DC Health’s Salesforce landscape includes seven portals, including an interface for providers to report notifiable diseases and impacts CDC decisions and metrics. DC Health also manages grant applications via Salesforce — and they use Copado for every single one.
Today, 120+ people at Accenture and DC Health access the Copado DevOps Platform to manage all Salesforce delivery lifecycle activities.
DC Health continues to leverage Copado to expand user licenses and extend cloud-native capabilities across health and wellness programs.
Copado has enabled DC Health to deploy business-critical functionality across development, QA, staging and production environments — while supporting a rapid pace of delivery and maintaining auditable records.
Each month, DC Health releases hundreds of deployments and thousands of user stories into production. All this innovation has empowered the organization to continue enhancing citizen experiences and promoting resident safety across the District.
