NXP is a supplier of business consumables that sells and distributes products across a wide range of categories such as stationery, PPE, technology, cleaning, cafeteria, hygiene, furniture, paper, packaging, workwear, and print categories.
The Auckland-based company stocks inventory and despatches the products daily to businesses across New Zealand.
The company’s origins date back to Christchurch in 1950 as family-owned Geo Berryman Typewriters, the first IBM dealer in New Zealand. Since then, NXP has spread its footprint many times over, including multiple ownerships and rebranding exercises. In the 1990s and early 2000s, NXP was known as Corporate Express and Staples. Until recently, NXP was operating under the ‘Winc’ brand name.

In 2019, Winc New Zealand — owned privately by Kiwis — changed ownership under the banner of a new name: NetXpress Procurement (NXP). Under the hood, all HQ functions including the IT & ERP infrastructure need to be decentralized by the new owners in less than six months.
The SAP landscape was complex — and the migration was challenging. NXP needed to move to another operating system, migrate their database and integrate with customer supplier systems. And most importantly, the New Zealand business had to maintain data integrity and confidentiality.
Initially, NXP partnered with DXC Oxygen — one of the leading SAP solutions providers across Australia and New Zealand — on the design of their end-to-end regression testing strategy. Based on the complexity of the project and the time constraints, the cross-functional team decided to leverage a test automation tool.
After examining the open-source marketplace and several commercial solutions, DXC Oxygen chose Copado Robotic Testing for three reasons: It was user-friendly, powerful and customizable.
Business users could record transactions in minutes and use them as building blocks for end-to-end testing scenarios and training materials for new staff. DXC Oxygen harnessed the power of Copado Robotic Testing to implement SAP in under 3 weeks. With Copado, NXP ran their first fully automated regression test cycle just 20 days since kickoff.
NXP now has a robust SAP platform built for business growth, with an architecture designed to support an exponential amount of transaction volumes. Despite the time constraints, DXC Oxygen was able to build an enterprise-grade test strategy. Thanks to Copado Robotic Testing, test cases are easily maintainable and reusable.
With Copado, NXP went live 5 days ahead of schedule — with no impact on revenue or customers and zero downtime. Plus, there was no loss of historical sales records or stocking data. Copado has helped NXP build a robust platform that’s ready for scale and future growth.
